Haha, this is so weird, I just made a post in "brand name players" because I found this video on youtube as well and was wondering what became of King. Amazing, great minds think alike, huh?

That version of Billy Strayhorn's Lush Life, with all due respect for the incredible technique of Peter King, defeats the obvious mood of one my favorite pieces of music ever, Lush Life (just think of the lirics...) the ballad, par excellence, however, on You tube there are so many other things from him. This version of Cry me a river is spectacular.
The whole session (look it up) is incredible!

Milandro, I agree, it was worth waiting for Peter's solo on this one. I can almost forgive Lulu's singing and Jeff's solo.

Jeff, bless him, is no jazzer. He murders the outro, which is quite tough to play (kessel did it originally) and Lulu sure aint no Julie London IMHO. Dont get me wrong, Beck is a top blues and rock player, and Lulu can belt it out, but they are both wrong here. Peter King, awesome!

the whole session is very interesting, featuring also Tom Jones and Van Morrison.....

it is great to see how even famous people have fun doing what we do, just playing music , also after all those many years
