No, that's not a steam ship (though I like the idea of taking a trip on the SS Berg that doesn't involve an ice-Berg): it's a mouthpiece. I have a great old Berg, @1965 or maybe a little earlier, a scoopbill 110/2 M. I bought it in 1968 (the summer after the Summer of Love) and I do love it, but I have some issues with it. Ed Zentera has declined to work on it, so I'm looking for someone else -- even MORE of a mouthpiece genius:shock: ! Anyone interested? If you are, please send a PM and I can give you more particulars.

Meanwhile there's a piece on eBay that seems to be more or less exactly like the one I have; mine's a tad older, but it's the same idea (only mine's not blue; I don't know what they've done to some of the photos, but that is a very unnatural color for stainless steel). Have a look:

But seriously, Mojo might take this one on.

Thanks, Hak. You'll notice I carefully revised my dating for the Summer of Love -- though in my own defense I must say that everything came to Mississippi later than everywhere else. The Summer of Love is still about 10 years in the future down there!:D

I'll get in touch with Mojo. Good suggestion. Unless someone else pops up. . . .

I queried Mojo, but then I noticed a line on his website that says he "generally does not work on stainless steel pieces":( . I guess he's not a masochist!:D

Anybody, anybody, anybody interested?

I believe mine was the last one Mojo worked on and said his wrist was hurting him so much he couldn't work on any for a few days! Sorry:(

Yep. That's why I'm looking for somebody who's a genius refacer AND a masochist! Hmm -- this is going nowhere. How about this:

Looking for a potential mouthpiece martyr! You too could be St. Bonirefacer of the Berg!

I've been slowed considerably since early September on account of recovering from the last SS project I'll be taking on for a while. I've been able to hit a few HR pieces here and there and have made slow progress on a handful of STMs.

This is really tough work, my friends.

Actually it is my shoulder that hurts almost all the time. SS just kicks it up a couple of notches.
I'm starting to feel a little guilty here...:( If it's any consolation, Mojo, I really love the piece.:)

LA Refacer
John Reilly does excellent work. He is out in OC(LA suburbs) near me. He also plays bass sax (along with most other woodwinds!). You can reach him at: [email protected]
Here is a thread where several players mention their positive experiences with his mouthpiece work: http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthr...t=55161&page=2
