Has anyone worked seriously on the Maslanka Sonata? Do you have any suggestions for putting it together?! It's crazy! It's obviously a long term project. But I am interested in hearing what methods people have used in putting it together with the accompaniment; especially the third movement.

Thanks all!

I actually found it to be pretty easy to put together. If you know your part through and through, and the pianist is a total monster, it shouldnt be too tough. It's all about having a good steady tempo, especially in the third. It's very hard to hold the longer notes after playing fast triplets for a long time, so be conscious of that.

It can also be helpful to play it as an ensemble with a Dr.Beat if time is an issue.

Good luck! This one is a lot of work, but well worth it.

I love this piece! I'm hoping to squeeze it into my Master's recital next year (a challenge since the piece is admittedly a bit too long). If you end up with a recording of yourself, post it. I think this is one of the stronger sonatas in our rep by a major, current US composer.
