I just realized that when Jazz clubs reopen they might require the audience to wear masks. Then I realized that this would mean Jazz musicians would no longer have to struggle to be heard above noisey patrons!
You'd hope so , but in a recent experiment at opening up a venue, not only were patrons distancing (as expected and one would hope for) but not allowed to sing along. (But I think they were allowed to hum along...)Even with masks patrons are noisy...
If it was Jazz they wouldn't be singing along anyway. You'd hope so , but in a recent experiment at opening up a venue, not only were patrons distancing (as expected and one would hope for) but not allowed to sing along. (But I think they were allowed to hum along...)
Maybe they could have (optional) added crowd sound effect like football matches.
Wouldn't that be nice!!!!I just realized that when Jazz clubs reopen they might require the audience to wear masks. Then I realized that this would mean Jazz musicians would no longer have to struggle to be heard above noisey patrons!
Spitting? Are you confusing jazz gigs with punk gigs again? If you give a patron any alcohol, they will forget how to use their inside voice. The mask will not help the sound, but it may prevent them from spitting on you.
When we filmed a big band christmas special for tv thy used a paid audience, and had them pre-record clapping, cheering, etc. because they didn't know to do that after solos/etc. It was pretty interesting seeing the final result!Maybe they could have (optional) added crowd sound effect like football matches.
I've seen plenty of singing along at Jazz clubs, Ronnie Scotts, Concorde Club. I suppose it all depends on the type of jazz. It was especially nice to have the singing along at Slim Gaillard's wake at Ronnie's.If it was Jazz they wouldn't be singing along anyway.
