So I have recently purchased a Martin Alto Serial #85XXX. I've noticed it has a very flat C, it sounds like it is being choked. It sounds lnice when I use the alternate fingering. I would like to know if it was possible to fix the C note sound. I use a Vandoren Optimum AL3. I don't know if changing the mouthpiece would help.

Which C? If it is C1 on the bow, open up the bell keys.
If it is C2 or C3, the B pad may not be opening enough. Shouldn't be a big fix. When you press the A key to get C, do you feel some movement before it hits the rod closing the small C pad above B?
