Gentlemen - I have a Martin C-Melody of 1922 vintage which a local dealer was trying to sell as a "Used Martin Low-Pitch Alto" (I swear, sometimes I just don't understand people ...). This horn came with no history, so I have no idea what its repad or overhaul history might be.

My question for today is about the pads. They are all white. All the pads on my other saxophones, new or old, are ordinary cow-colored brown. I wonder what these white ones might be and if they're what Handcrafts usually wear.

Looks like the original-type pads. Many saxes came with white pads during that time.
