Both you folks with reach of Brunswick, Maine may want to check out the Pleasant Street Arts Center this Friday at 8 pm for the Frank Mauceri Quintet. This is a heck of a band, playing the music of Mauceri, Ayler, O. Coleman, Grover, Scott Colley & more. To quote the venue's Officially Sanctioned Blurb:

"On Friday November 16th at 8 PM 11 Pleasant St. Arts Center in Brunswick presents the Frank Mauceri Quintet as the next installment in the ongoing monthly jazz series.

The lineup for this performance features all stars of the Maine Jazz Scene with the leader Frank Mauceri on Tenor Saxophone, Tim O'Dell on Alto Saxophone and trumpeter Mark Tipton completing the three horn front line. The horns are supported by the rock solid rhythm team of Sam Sherry, bass and Steve Grover on drums. The choice to use three horns and no chordal instrument leaves room for interesting textures in originals by Mauceri and other members plus arrangements of pieces from the jazz lexicon

Each member in this audacious ensemble is an accomplished composer and instrumentalist in their own right and leaders of their own groups. Together, they celebrate the challenge of playful dialog and musical discovery."

Be there if you're near there. Good band, cool noises!
