I have aquired a 1950 12 m bari that has many many dents.I thought I would try magnetic removal until I checked the prices for complete kits.
I then went to United Nuclear and found some reasonable powerful magnets for sale.I priced some stainless steel balls on the web that were much less than buying from Feree.I have a problem in that I have no idea how to make handles for the various sizes of disk magnates. Are there any ideas how one would mount these things?

There is a lot more to the magnetic dent removal than one would think. A great deal of damage can by done using the wrong size magnet with the wrong technique---both to the instrument and to the repairman. I would advise taking it to an experienced tech who has the proper tools and know how. You could save some money by taking the keys off yourself. Maybe he would even let you watch how it is done.

Dont buy stainless balls. They are non-magnetic

I wrote an article a while back that was published in "Tuba News" about the Dent Eraser. There is a version of it here:

Maybe this will help. We have since stopped selling the Dent Eraser. We now have the MDRS in stock and will be adding that to the site soon.

I have both the Dent Eraser and the MDRS, and I have made my own Magnetic dent tools as well. Of the three, the MDRS is the set I use most often.

I made my handles on the lathe from Steel. I threaded the center of the magnet case (a piece of PVC) and screwed in a threaded pipe. The first time I dropped a magnet in case it collided with the handle and broke. That was an expensive mistake.
