hey guys.

I just bought a buffet-crampon "evette" tenor that is hands down amazing.
I found it on vancouver craigslist for $750. I'm laughing at how good this blows with my JJ DV and RJS's. Problem is I can't figure out what model it is exactly. I checked saxpics and it looks alot like a S2 but it has not engraving and no high f# (which i'm actually really happy about) serial number is 370xxx and underneath it says R.O.C.

I have the same model. It was sold to me as a Buffet Crampon Evette then one day I was looking at it closely and found the R.O.C. Republic Of China. i.e. Taiwan. I was not impressed! But it is a good solid instrument and plays well. My only complaint is that I paid too much for it.

Yes, Buffet has some of its horns made in Taiwan. Well, if it plays well, the R.O.C labelling does not matter.

But at least Buffet is honest about where your horn was made. (Some Taiwanese brand has Paris engraved on its horns, but they are made in R.O.C too ;-) ).

The Evette model is a student horn; not one of the glamour models that preceeded it.
