So I play in the marching band and have been using a Guardala Studio (gold) for a few months. And recently, the director told me to stop using it cause I drown out 30 other saxophones and the other woodwinds some how. So now I'm using a Meyer 7* ebonite. I really want to spite my director by using the loudest ebonite mouthpiece available for tenor.

I'm looking at the Otto Link 8*, Jody Jazz 9*, and Vandoren V16 T8.

I don't care how big the tip opening is, cause I can adapt to virtually all mouthpieces. I'm just looking for the loudest one!

That's not very good musicianship. Lakeys are really loud on alto, I assume probably so on tenor as well. Is there a limit to this, though? What's next, a megaphone? Wireless mic? Portable amp?

It seems like you won't get on very well as a musician if what you want to do is "spite your director" rather than play with the rest of the band.

Also do you really want to drown out the other players and become very unpopular?

My advice would be to comply with the wishes of the band director if you wish to stay with that band.
If you require loud then join also an amplified Rock/Blues band: there it will be you who is complaining about the over loud egotistic drummer & guitarist.

Instead of criticizing him (although I'm also critical), I'll just answer:

Berg Larsen 120/0 or 130/0
Rico Metalite in a huge tip (M11)

The hard rubber link and jody jazz you mentioned above are not the loudest pieces by any means. (Although, god forbid, they might sound half decent).

I'd say a RPC 115B, that way you can make it whisper when he's listening to you and then make it roar above everyone else when you want to!

Strathon is louder than any Berg or RPC. Haven't played a saxcape or Runyon. The Rico metalite recommended is loud and cheap enough.

Wow. I'm not sure what to say here.
I could put on the "Bandmommy hat" and ream you a new one for being a ginormus, disrespectful, jackhole towards your director, but I really don't want to take any more grief for being mean to the less mature high school kids.
I could suggest a few loud mouthpieces, but then I would be contributing to the delinquency of a disrespectful jackhole, and I don't want to be mean to a hard working band director who is only looking for balance within his band.
Hmmm.... I need to think about this for a few more minutes before I decide which path to take.
Normally I would just say what was on my mind, but I'm trying to be a nicer, more patient bandmommy.

You guys are right. I've owned those pieces too and I do use a Berg HR for loud gigs. A lot of players would say there is nothing louder than a Dukoff. Most loud mouthpieces are loud because they have more volume, of course, but also because they are very bright; accenting the treble and overtones like Dukoff and to a lessor extant; Berg. The unique thing about Strathon is it's mid-range. That frequency has more cut than it's highs. Your mileage may vary.

Holy crap, I wasn't completely serious. I mean I just want a louder mouthpiece cause now I feel extremely quiet with my Meyer. I mean of course I'll comply to his wishes, just want something to push it to the next level when given the opportunity.
