Becco if you can hum it, then you can play it. After you really know it well by ear then you have to apply that to your horn. Take a tune, solo , whatever it is you're trying to learn and divide it into licks, phrases, melodies whatever it is you want to call it. By taking on the tune in smaller pieces you will be a lot more successful. Pretty soon you will start to see that most things aren't near as complicated as you think they are, especially in pop music. Now obviously some sax solos are done by really really good players. Not everything will be easy. But really you approach the more difficult passages the same way, bit by bit. There is a lot to learn though by taking the time to see how players approached a solo.
