For those of you that are big band freaks, especially Stan Kenton, LAJI is putting on a greaT festival this weekend.

It’s at one of the hotels near LAX.

If you’re at the festival tomorrow I’m playing bari on the bands in the afternoon and evening. Stop by and say hello!

Unfortunately, after 32 years of these events, this will be the last one. I've attended a number of them through the years and have seen attendance drop from standing room only in theater type seating, to a number of mostly senior citizens seated at large, round banquet tables to fill out the space. They were really extraordinary programs and I'm sorry to see them end. Kudos to Ken Poston and his team for a great 32 year run.

I haven’t heard that myself, and I’ve played at many of them for 20 some years. Where did you hear that?
It's on page three of the flyer: "After 32 years of producing multi-day jazz festivals we've decided that it's time to wrap it up."
Apparently they plan on still doing occasional one day events, but not weekend ones. It was inevitable, sad to say.

I’ve been to many over the years as well. This is indeed the last one. Ken and team did a great job.
