Hi all,

I do a bit of a solo act with sax & flute with backing tracks. I'm trying to get out of this rut of bossa=flute / swing=sax, so i'm looking to add more variety of flute tunes, preferably standards and other songs that would be familiar to the audience. So i'd appreciate any recommendations for songs that work particularly well on flute.

Peace,
- Jimbo

Try a ballad or two. Or you can go the cheesy route and do Moondance or The Swinging Shepard Blues. Come to think of it, there are lots of good blues that feature flute solos. Look for some Jerome Richardson solos to get some more ideas. Neal Hefti's "Lil Darlin" is a great tune on flute.

I like bluesy ballads....Angel Eyes is a favorite (though I play it on alto flute). Willow Weep For Me, Summertime...stuff like that.
