I am looking for web sites which contain photos and/or bios of the following sax players to place in the CD book "The History of Top 40 Saxophone Solos-1955-2005" which gives credit to those who played solos on the records. We will use the information only with permission and will respect copyrights. If you personally know any of the players who are still with us I would appreciate your forwarding the request to them. We have located many bios and photos over the past 9 years for the CD book but have not been successful locating info for the following performers. If you have an LP with a
photo that you can scan and email it will be very helpful. If a name is attached to a song and you know "for sure" that the individual did not play a solo or sectional work on the recording please let me know. I appreciate your help! [email protected]

Jon Clarke was on several Don Ellis albums, most notably Live at the Fillmore and Tears of Joy. Unfortunately, my dog ate some of my albums, including some of my prized Don Ellis recordings!

Thanks Rick!

Saxhound, when I lived in Tampa, Don Ellis visited Tampa Uni and the stage band backed him on a concert. "Superbone." I was fortunate to be sitting in with the TU sax section. Some of the titles of the charts were wild. "Pussywiggle Stomp" among others!

I never got to see him live, but my brother was on the college sound crew when they played at his school in the early 70's. He said it was amazing just listening to them warm up before the show. They would actually do a 3 or 4 hour rehearsal just to get pumped up for the performance.

Our college band had a number of Ellis charts, including "Pussy Wiggle Stomp". It was in 7/4, IIRC. My favorite was "The Magic Bus Ate My Doughnut".

Thanks Katie. I sent an email to Scott but he never confirmed that he played the solo on DREAMIN’. He was going to do some research and let me know.
