Yea, long tones are boring, but we know they are supposed to be good for you, so is cod liver oil. Recently had a request to record just some long tones that fit with a kind of strange guitar piece called Heiliger Geist, which is German for Holy Ghost. Was recorded just before Easter, so I guess appropriate. A bit too much echo, but that's his engineering.

Never know when those long tones will be needed.

Comment if you wish

Liked - The guiitar and the horn created some nice and subtle atmospherics. Nice horn playing - subdued and effective.

Didn't like - Neither the clip's visuals, nor the voice. The voice is unnecessary and for me, detracted from, rather than added to the piece. It sounded corny and affected. Shame really, as it ruined an otherwise nice piece.

If the voice was taken out, it would be the kind of thing I like to listen to while making art. I listen to quite a bit of Eno and Fripp.

Can't say I disagree. It's not my project though. I'm just helping out a friend who wanted to have the horn sounds. The point wasn't to necessairly to promote this as a great work, just a case/example where one might find a use for long tones. Glad you liked the music part anyway.

Cheers

I liked it...Quite soothing. Actually, I had no problem with the vocals. Obviously the guitarist saw a need for it.
Besides, why does one thing or another have to make sense as a whole if it does not appear to be? The illogical has as much weight as the logical in art.
In nature, as in everyday extraneous sound, I cannot think of one sound that does not belong to the overall scope of what's being
sounded advertently or inadvertently.

Subjectivity, which is great, can be distracting in itself which is why I chose to represent my latest works in chance operation. I'm essentially removing likes and dislikes from my own point of view in order to hear an inspiration untouched by influence, as in what has been displayed previously from countless pieces of music we can't help be influenced by. As it's being documented I'm not judging it. I'm merely understanding how nature is working through it, as in deciding what sequences to chance.

Wade, you have a lovely expressive tone and I could easily get a small glimpse into your passion. You're not at all afraid of being laconic with your horn.
It's not about the volume of notes but of the note itself. You taste them!
