Hi

Is anyone here knowledgeable about streaming a live concert? From what I understand, the video part is relatively easy (at least with just one camera), pretty much connecting it with e.g. HDMI and using streaming software.

How about the audio? It is all connected to the mixing console so I need to get the audio from that and then somehow stream it with the video. Any idea?

I've seen a lot of people recommend Elgato but do I really need that? A lot of YouTubers use that but not exactly sure what it does really or if it helps for a concert stream.

Thanks

It depends on which program you're using to put out the livestream. For example, if you stream directly to YouTube you can only use 2 audio outs (even if your interface has more mic inputs). If you use OBS, you can run all of those inputs to a bus in a DAW (like Logic) and run the bus out to OBS.

Thanks. I found a lot on Google/YouTube but there are so many options, I'm trying to narrow it down. Seems that a Camlink will be good for the camera and with software like OBS I can just use that plus connect the console to the computer audio card too. The problem is that the several options of where to do this from are closed... hope it gets better eventually.

Hi Dave

Just to clarify are you saying run from your audio interface/mixer to Logic like normal. Then output L/R from logic into OBS? If so how do you map so you can see in the stereo mix in the audio properties of OBS.

Thanks in advance.

You could use Soundflower which is a free and excellent audio routing utility.
OBS is great, many options and very stable
