I don't think many people outside our state are aware of how many top rate local musicians make Utah their home. A wonderful venue to "show off" local talent was started several years ago at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake. Musicians are payed union scale and admission is always free of charge. Since the start of the pandemic, the concerts have switched from a live audience to streaming video. This link takes you to a list of recent performances. The most recent is Jory Woodis and Friends playing a selection of "traditional jazz" tunes from the 1920's and '30's and is worth checking out.

I thought Jory was doing well. He's my cousin from small town Wyoming. Happy to see him acknowledged among the sax world! However the link appears to be broken.

This is great to know, thanks, Saxoclese! This seems like a wonderful venue for creative musicians. I'll look into that when we start booking tours again post-Covid, there's a similar place in St. Louis that we were slated to play before the poop hit the fan. But we need to get out west and this seems like a wonderful place to play.

Sorry about the link. Try the second one. The first one might only work if you are subscribed to the channel. If you send me your name in a pm, I will tell Jory you said hello.
