I think it depends on where the cutoff line is for "known" I'll second Govani to start. I don't know that many people aware of him outside the Berklee crowd, which is unfortunate. Perhaps George Garzone is also on the list, although getting more well known? Few more:
.
Ernie Watts
Jaleel Shaw
Dick Oats
Ed Calle
Jerry Bergonzi as a player rather than educator.
You might consider one or more of them "known" but perhaps since almost all saxophonists are somewhat anonymous relative to others in media, perhaps I could say all those have notoriety less than what is warranted.
- Gabor Bolla and his (somewhat more well-known) compatriot, Tony Lakatos
- Max Ionata
All three are monster players that I stumbled onto accidentally, one way or another, on YouTube. They are virtually unknown in the US, and rarely discussed on SOTW.
Great idea and there are some wonderful players listed, I'd add Nicolas Simion, Mihaly Dresch, Adam Pieronczyk or Andrew D'Angelo in no particular order. I just happen to listen to them right now.

You mentioned all these European guys I've never heard of but not this one, who's a very interesting player. He plays on another video with a certain "reckless abandon" that I like.
Marius Neset;
I don't know if Rick is really a lesser known player but I wanted to list him as I love his tenor playing and sound. I've been on a Dave Weckl kick lately so I listed two players that did stints in his band.
I'm checking out these players, but I figured I'd post this question to help narrow my search: do we know which ones are very intense? I mean people like Baptist Herbin, Justin Mendez, et al. I appreciate other types of players (more reserved, but I'm looking for "beach stormers" right now).
My home boy Louis drags around a beat-up Leslie to gigs, sounds so great. Renato played on King Louis' CD last year "Rock Me Baby" with LaRonda Steele... Four Stars in Downbeat and made their top 12 list for 2019. These guys just finished recording original tunes live in a studio this week. I think this is one of the tunes, captured at the gig last night...
David Schnitter: (listen to the first 4 minutes). David Schnitter is also on a hard-to-find album "Shippin' Out" by Groove Holmes from 1978.
