I found a Leblanc Vito Curved Soprano sub $500, seller says its ready to play. I haven't heard much about them, I've read reviews that they can be great horns. What concerns me is what looks like a dent in the bow. How would this compare against a YSS-475? Would this be a good Soprano to pick up? Automotive lighting Automotive tire Alloy wheel Wheel Rim

Well the 475 is not a curved soprano but you know that. I’m guessing the Yamaha is a better instrument but curvies sure are fun to hold and play.

The dent is repairable even though the tone hole is bent as well I think.

If it plays pretty well, a good deal. The dented bow is no big deal for a decent tech, and if the tonehole needs some work, also relatively simple repair.

I am not so sure a Yama 475 would be a better instrument than a Beaugnier-made curvy, tho....I'd lean towards the opposite conclusion.

I'm not able to play test it prior to purchase.

"A very nice curved soprano saxophone from the Vito Leblanc company. This piece is been professionally serviced, cleaned and sanitized. It is ready to play! All around excellent condition, see pictures for full ware - only one minor bump on the bottom curve. A unique piece to add to the collection"
This is what is listed in the advertisement.

All I can tell is that it says Vito Leblanc on the bell. Not sure how to tell where it was manufactured and when.

I think I saw this listing.

It's not a Beaugnier or Yanagisawa. I believe it is Taiwanese made by Antigua or KHS Jupiter, but I'm not certain.

Neither KHS Jupiter since they never made a a curved soprano.

Looks like one that was sold under the brand " Blessing" ( USA brand) made in China or Taiwan. ( the keywork of the VSP Vito Yanagisawa made is different namely the left palm Keywork )

See one here

before everyone jumps on he bandwagong of the Curved Vito Soprano = Yanagisawa ( it's not always the case...)

we have sponken about curvies not made by Yanagisawa before, they do exist

I would certainly go for a Yamaha 475 OR look for a different curvy. I had an excellent experience with a Bauhaus Walstein AI Phosphor Bronze.

The " minor" bump is a serious problem (and if the seller feels is such a minor problem than he should have it repaired)

That looks rather a lot like my Jean Baptiste (Sam Ash store brand) curved soprano that I've had for 15 years or so. It has the same unusually long palm D key.

I would go with the 475. Those are amazing horns, especially for the price! They tune really well, are reliable and easy to maintain, feel comfy under the fingers, and sound good! Or maybe find a used Yanagisawa stencil or older model. It might be a bit tough if the horn in the listing represents your budget, but you might get lucky!

On a slight tangent, this curved soprano has also been on Reverb for a while.

Solely out of curiosity as I don't have any interest in buying it (and have no connection with the seller), but would it be a good deal for someone looking for a curvy? I thought Chateau in general was quite well regarded. Or as suggested above, if no one has jumped on it, is there a reason?

That Chateau would have been an excellent purchase for $475. The Kessler and Chateau curved sopranos are both made by Tenon. I own a Kessler curvy, and it holds up very well. That French Vito offered by Sax Alley is also appealing, but three times the price.
