Recently I opened a box a Rigotti Gold 3 Medium reeds in the new box design which includes the wording "THE BLUE ONE." Its been kicking around my reed storage for about a year. I notice the tips warp and the reeds soften quicker than previous Rigotti reeds. Has anyone else noticed this? Have they modified their cut by thinning the reed at the tip? I would rather they do the opposite!

I like they way they play out of the box, but not so much after 3-4 rehearsals, so perhaps I need to move up to 3 Strong. May also try ZZ 3 reeds.

I don’t find a difference in the tenors I’ve had. I don’t think they changed their cuts...maybe just a new crop of cane that’s a little different than the last. You know, nature stuff.
