I've seen many pros (including Brecker) using a silver neck on their lacquered Mark VI tenors. But I've not seen a silver-plated VI with a lacquered neck.

Anyone any thoughts or experiences on this?

I'm trying to get a rougher/dirtier/funkier sound on my silver VI.

I don't think the finish or the material matters much - it is most likely the interior design (size and shape of the neck's interior) that affects the horn's sound. So lacquered or silver-plate, you just have to test the set-up. DAVE

Lacquer on Silver

Lacquered neck on a silver sax... WORLDS COLLIDE!!!!

You can try ten different necks and get ten different sounds. Try it and you may find something that works for you.
