Actually i have no issue with anyone because it’s all fun for me no matter what anybody say. Also some of your information has help me, that’s why I don’t see why anyone can go so offended from people they never met. I’ve received plenty of help on this site so I have no complaints with anyone

Not to revisit any of that but just a reminder that this guy was a HIGH-SCHOOL SENIOR at the time of that incident. Are there actually people here who think a person should be "banned for life" for ungracious comments made in high school? I guess that would be one way to make sure you don't wind up with too many friends... 🤔

Thank you—well put. He is who he is right now, but he’s gradually maturing as a person, player, and mouthpiece guy. His humility will come in due time.

All I can say is thank god there wasn't any internet when I was that age. A permanent lifetime public record has gotta be... a lot to live with!

[Edited to fix formatting issues caused by me trying to be polite.]

I bought one of Kirill’s pieces a little over a year ago. One of the 3D printed ones. It plays very well. I don’t play it much because I don’t like the feel of it in my mouth, same with the SYOS piece I bought (which doesn’t play nearly as well).

Regarding the controversy about the guy, there are two kinds of *******s in the world - those that know what they are doing and those that don’t. We have been dealing with a member here on the site lately that falls in the 2nd category; Kirill is one of the 1st kind. Hopefully he loses some of his ******* qualities as time goes on. I’ve been aware of him for many years, there are some you-tube videos from several years ago of him playing tenor and organ as a young teenager that are frankly quite stunning.

History is rife with a*h** musicians. My wife refuses to listen to Miles Davis. Me, I just accept the fact that they are broken or wounded in some way, as most of us are, and enjoy the music.

Steve has this sounding more like a DR Link than Kirill:), the piece has the right voice for my ear, an STM with crispness and focus, it sounds like a DR to me, and I've had a few...
There are of course many great mouthpiece tech's on this board, perhaps young Kirill's mark of distinction is his enthusiasm about keeping the finishing style of each iteration of Link STM authentic to how the factory worked them, DR's are different from no USA's and USA's, many impose their own baffles and curves across a range of blanks.

Thanks for the review Steve, I always am tempted to try one of these Double Ring copy someday, how does it compare with Matt Marantz Double Ring copy?
I honestly can't remember the details of the Marantz Double Ring copy. I had to borrow that one from Matt and then send it back immediately after the review because he needed it back so I didn't get very much time on it as I do on other mouthpieces. You would have to look at the review and listen to the sound clips for more info on it unfortunately. I wish my memory was better........

If you’re issues with me, please contact me via pm and I will be happy to talk about them.
I remember the beef between you and NO SAX, Dr. G. It came from that NO SAX was making suggestion (when he was just a newbie for a few months) under someone's thread and you stopped that saying he should not make suggestion beyond his level.

And I would say the same again in similar circumstances. I am offering NO SAX the opportunity to discuss that, and anything else, without the public lens. Same offer goes to anyone else that has a beef with me.

Oh thanks, I must have missed your review then, as far as I remember the one you tested was the slant legacy, not the Double Ring here: Double Ring Legacy metal for Tenor Sax | marantzmouthpieces

Same anecdote I had, when my boss told me for the first time “you did a terrific job”. I was so sad then he clarified. English is an interesting language 😅
The Italian Sax Quartet members were so gracious to take the time to talk with us, too. The look of devastation on their faces was immediate, which helped us remember our “musicians Italian” and that terrifico was not a synonym for magnifico. It all ended with a good laugh and a chance to have lunch with one of the members when we were in Italy a couple years later.

I am so glad there is nothing but fond memories of my public stupidity, especially as a college freshman in my music classes. 🤣

It’s pretty unreal what kids grow up with nowadays, starting from the baby pics their parents post on Facebook and continuing henceforth. To have every stage of your life documented publicly like that must just be a new way to live if you stop to think about it!

Yes, in many of his posts he would talk like he was the only person on the planet who understood vintage Links and Dukoff's. With so many great makers and refacers to choose from, who wants to deal with someone like that?

The guy publicly shamed me on Facebook that he got one of my pieces and improved it as the baffle was too high for that model according to him.

Yep. That’s his MO. He’s a royal 🍆 and I’m glad he’s no longer on here.
He’s still pulling the same stunts on Facebook now.
I don’t care how young or supposedly talented he is. There’s no excuse for his kind of garbage.
