For me it’s no contest. I by far prefer a current pro model P. Mauriat tenor over a new Keilwerth SX90.

But a standard Jody Jazz HR 8? Mehh Kirk could do a LOT better than that even with a different JJ Model. Unless he had it refaced and setup... Those are in desperate need a good pro setup.

Not to derail this thread but I've listened to him since he 1st hit the scene when Bob James discovered him back in the 80's. Always thought his recorded smooth output sucked and his beautiful sound was wasted. He was certainly capable of more IMO.

The current flyer from WWBW has Whalum on the cover endorsing the P. Mauriat PMXT-66R with a Jody Jazz HR mouthpiece. No specs on the mouthpiece were given.
