I have a Zephyr Special that is quite nice that came in a tray-pak style case with the gator like covering. Does anyone know what the standard single case was like for these. Mine is missing the brass badge that says KING on the outside (looking for one) which was the same as they had used since the teens. Also, did they use the red KING sticker for the inside that was also used in the early year? I have some of those but didn't want to stick one inside if it isn't correct. I fixed up the beast and when I get a brass badge I am finished but thinking of finding a period correct single case too.

I had an original smelly case for these ( I think it belonged to a 1938 horn that I've sold long ago) and I gave it to a friend of mine just a few months ago, black faux crocodile with red interior and the King metal plaque, in my case this was almost black (not sure if it had been tarnished by the time but it was a bronze colour so dark that you could barely see on the background of the faux crocodile). I cannot remember having having a plaque inside.

I also have a much later (maroon colour case ) Super 20.

The badge is the same as the case that I had but the faux crocodile had bigger scales .One side , the front , had rounded corners, the handle had a very elaborate arrangement with adjustable mini buckles

That is how mine is. The case in the photo is a soprano from 1919 that I sold. When I get the case and horn finished, I will post some photos. Rounded front and back, faux gator, nickle latches, handle on end, red lining. Now to find the badge........
