Posted an amazing tenor sax solo by Max Ionata on "But Not for Me" that Curtis at saxsolos.com shared with me. I was working on this myself and was on the 3rd chorus when Curtis emailed me over the weekend and said he had already finished it. Curtis gave me permission to post this. This is one of my favorite Youtube clips of all time and for me is about as good as you can get as far as tenor sax tone! Do yourself a favor and check this one out!

I agree with everything you say about his sound. Fantastic isnt it.

In the comments in the full You Tube clip, it is stated that he is playing a Navarro Maestra.

After listening to this clip a zillion times, I bought a Maestra.
Im not sure why, but I dont sound like him.
Maybe once I also get a 70k serial mark 6 everything will fall in to place for me, tone wise........or, maybe not !!!!

I think he sounds really great here and he's a fantastic player.
I remember Max telling me that he loves his Bari 8 mpc the most, and I found it odd, as I never thought the Bari tenors were so hot. I do like their soprano blank. Max makes everything sound good and it’s always a pleasure hearing him.
