Okay, I am hoping this thread stays on the subject, due to how popular it is to "hate" Kenny G by some people, but I have had the request of playing a couple of Kenny G songs on my Soprano sax at my cousin's wedding (she loves kenny g) but I have failed to locate any great sounding backing tracks for the songs they requested on Google and other search sites.

I am hoping to find a cd that I can purchase or music I can burn to a cd (with no saxophone on the track of course) that sounds as close to the original Kenny G pieces ('The Wedding Song,' 'The Moment,' 'Sentimental,' etc.), and most importantly, that are in the same key as the original pieces.

Any proper and serious comments on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well, I don't know about any existing pre-recorded backing tracks. However, if you're able to get sheet music for the tunes you want to play, you may be able to use something like band-in-a-box/Jammer Pro...etc...to generate backing tracks. Not sure if the tracks would be close enough to your liking but it may be worth a try.

I'll look into that Band in a Box thing, but doubt I'll like the accuracy of it compared to the actual songs...looks like I am just going to have to go with those crappy sounding midi files I found on google. Thanks for the recommendation though, Perry.

There are loads of websites offering karaoke and backing tracks, I use them occasionally but am not an authority, as you might expect the quality varies enormously. A few sites offer to make custom make tracks for a fee, which also varies enormously.

One of these sites may have what you need.

I'm kind of surprised that you guys haven't discovered my Smooth Jazz Backing Tracks site. I've been in business since 2004 and yes, I have a great selection of Kenny G backing tracks, Dave Koz backing tracks, Marion Meadows, Sanborn, and tons more.

You can check out the Kenny G page here.
