Hi there. I've got a silver Keilwerth SX90 (NOT SX90R) alto sax. The thing is that i cant find it anywhere on the web. All i keep getting is the SX90R. The serial number is 120744. Any help on this horn would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

John.

If it's black nickel, try listing for $2,000. If it's silver (and I don't think I've encountered a silver SX-90), you might be able to list for a little more, just for the novelty of it.

I think $2000 would be too much for it, since I could buy a brand new lacquered one for that. Besides the fact that not many folks are keeping the new SX90s they bought even at $2k -- that surprises me a bit. JK has a good reputation, generally, but recent trends aren't bearing it out. The Rs have the notorious tone hole 'non-issue', so the the 90s seemed a safer bet, yet WWBW can't seem to find buyers that won't stop returning them. Curious.

It is obvious that he wants to sell his instrument, and therefore needs advice on pricing. Didn't you read this ad? :)

By the way, seller, the horn is black nickel plated, no?
Hi. Thanks for taking the time to reply! To your question, no, it's not black nickel plated. It's all silver. And yes, I intend to sell this horn. It's difficult to price as I cant find another to compare. I find it very odd. Besides trying to value the horn, im also very interested to know the history of this sax. I have included a pic and am ever so grateful for any other comments from you guys. Thanks to all replies

Put up more pics, clips, and info and list in SOTW at $2000. It's a good looking horn and there is a good following for Keilwerths. You may find yourself lowering the price, but that's how it tends to go on SOTW...

Good luck with it!

Hi hgiles

Many thanks for that info. What is SOTW? Im from Scotland BTW, I was considering sticking it on eBay. That price in US dollars equates to £1240 sterling. I know how much I paid for it and would expect more than that. Add to that what pc1234 said, "Just for the novelty of it" And yeah, it IS a lovely horn, thanks!
I was really more interested in how it seems to be an "oddball" with no match anywhere I can find. Im kinda loathed to part with it but needs must.......
I've been taken aback by the response I have had to this and thanks again to all. Though I'd be over the moon if someone replied telling me they had one too!

Cheers!

It wasn't obvious at all to me, my apologies for being dim. ...
Pete, you left off part of my quote -- the part with the smiley, which indicates my tone of teasing sarcasm! I most certainly was not accusing you of "being dim." I thought we had already discussed that a smiley means the comment is to be taken in jest:

Why do you suggest this, Pete?
Note the smiley, it wasn't serious ...
