That's too much (IMHO) for an ST90 unless it's around $600 less than a grand!! There is a big difference betweem the ST90 (Keilwerth's student line) and the EX90 (which is the intermediate line.) The prices being quoted are more in line with an EX90 rather than a ST90 (STudent model.) If you are still interested, check out ebay and check out ST90 asking prices. I think that you will see what I mean about the discrepancy range in prices from the ST models through the EX models and all the way to the SX90R top-of-the-line models!
I understand that this is a soprano and that Keilwerth sopranos don't come around all that often but it's still a student model. At the very least, you should be able to get the price down a bit more!

IMO, you are better off saving more money, and buying a used Yanagisawa later on...
I don't really understand why people would want to spend ~$800 on a very average instrument, when you could save for a while longer, and get a great instrument further down the line...

Obviously, it's all your choice! :) Good luck

I'm not saying that Yanagisawa sopranos are the only ones worth playing, not at all... I don't even play them.
I just meant to say that Yanagisawas are found cheaper online, and are great players!!

BPSAX if you do not play one (a Yani) its strange that you say they are great players
I now play a JK SX90II and a Cannonball Stone Series Brute soprano both great playing horns
I had a JK ST90 (made in Taiwan by the way) and actually it was a very good player also especially for the price (which I paid $700 for essentially new) its just not the prestige of the German made SX90

I don't think it's strange to say that they are great players, even if I don't play on them... I do believe that they are great players, but for me, the Selmer IIIs are better...

I recommended the Yanagisawas, because they are great AND can be affordable.

Doesn't seem too hard to understand?

They (Yanagisawas) ARE great players. I completely agree!
They play as well, if not better than the Selmer IIIs, but I prefer the evenness of tone across the Selmer that I do not get on the Yanagisawas! :)
It's really splitting hairs here.
