I have a Kawai KAS-139L , No. 0040xx alto and would like to find some info i.e. Manufacturer,build date etc. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Without seeing it I cannot say, but I know that Kawai bought student line B&S horns and had them stenciled "Kawai". As most of us B&S fans know, there are no more genuine German made B&S saxes anymore.
I have seen many of these Kawai B&S horns and they were very cheap, low quality horns.
B&S's student line was not too good to start with, and the Kawai horns cut even more corners to maximize profits.
