Hello. after been urged on by people who tried my ligs, I have decided to make them available to the public. Although not as convenient to use compared to screw on ligatures, these free up the reed thus enhancing response, vibrancy and clarity. The first thing one notices with these is the ease with which the low notes sound. High tech re-enforced string is used on all of them and the body is hand made from either compact high strength wood, brass, or even stone(although not available yet). Once pre-adjusted by ensuring all loops have equal tension these ligs will fit any mouthpiece, that's why the string length is longer than required, but it can always be cut to ones preference. For starters I am offering 3 brass ones with "rough" finish, one polished brass and one made of banduk wood, polished with bees wax and oil. The price is $40 + $7 for shipping.

This is what 10mfan, maker of the well known and highly regarded 10mfan mouthpieces said after trying them:

"A BIG HEADS UP HERE:
I got one of AntPeas ligs with the red strings this past week, and I am SO INCREDIBLY happy that I did!!!

I have tried loads of ligs in my lifetime, and for a long while I have been using an Ishimori gold-plated one on my Robusto mouthpiece.
AntPeas lig plain and simple, is FAR better for me. It makes the mouthpiece sound its best. The response and clarity are superb.
My Robusto is VERY VERY happy!!!!!!!

PLEASE MAKE THESE LIGATURES AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.
PLAYERS WILL GO CRAZY FOR THESE."

Antpea, I'd be keen to try one of these but am wondering how much fiddling around there is when setting up a horn for a gig? I play a 10MFAN metal Boss 9 and the lower notes can be difficult to speak at times....hence my interest in this lig. However, I'm not keen on a lig that's a bit fussy to set. Can you quickly outline what you mean by this statement: "Although not as convenient to use compared to screw on ligatures"

The setup is done initially, by adjusting the loops to fit your mouthpiece and to have equal tension on all of them. Once the adjustment is made you pull the lig round the mouthpiece and reed ensuring you have a firm fit and you done. The adjustment is only done once.I will be writing an instruction manual soon. If you need to know anything else please ask.

Ok, cool. What would postage to 4226 Queensland, Australia cost? I was going to PM you but figured that other Aussies might appreciate having a ballpark postage cost to Aus.

Apostolis (AntPea) was nice enough to sell me a few of these early on and I can't say enough about how much I love mine! I have been using it since I got it and have experimented with the different types and they are all superb. I'm going to go through some of my findings and recommendations that worked for me.

- These can be adjusted at the beginning for any mouthpiece size you want, which is incredible. I had fun playing with sizing and tightness and found that once I experimented a little I got it set PERFECT! Not to mention, if I change my main piece down the line, this lig will still work on that with a re-adjust :)

- Freedom for Reeds is a great slogan because that's what these do! They really allow the reed to vibrate freely and make response and articulation superior to other ligatures. This lig just crushed all my other ligs (Rovner Legacy, Ishimori, Stock, Marc Jean, EchoBrass) when it came to response and articulation. It's just instant for me.

- I found that the freest blowing of them was the wooden version and it was also the "darkest" for me. The one with the metal had a little more to push against and had a slight bit more point. I like and am excited to have both!

- Sound when using different ligatures is subjective and can be "controversial", but I find these ligs really beefed up my sound on my Berg and allow me to have a nice buzz and color present that my other ligs didn't do for this piece. They work fantastic on my Otto Link too and made it super rich and lush with a great ease of play. So they are definitely mouthpiece friendly and won't hurt your tone color :)

- $40 plus shipping is really a steal for a ligature of any quality, but especially one that works as well as this one.

Just a few disclaimers, I wanted to say this because I truly am using these ligs every day on my tenor. It can read like I'm pitching the ligs, but these are my absolute honest thoughts and I can't wait to make a recording / video using this ligature :) Thanks AntPea for making these and making them available to players at an affordable price! I certainly hope this takes off for you and you are successful.

AntPea, I currently use the Rovner Star series lig on my 10MFAN metal Boss and find that it gives me good focus and brightness. I wouldn’t generally be looking for another lig except for the fact that your lig apparently frees up the bottom end a little bit.

Do you think your lig would provide the same degree of focus and brightness whilst still opening up the bottom end?

Hi, read what SimonJazzSax in the post above yours has to say. Simon has nailed it. He describes exactly what these ligs do. I think this might be the answer you are looking for, quote: "they are definitely mouthpiece friendly and won't hurt your tone color".

Cheers

My K-Lig arrived today. I bought this specifically for my Jody Jazz DV CHI which I had been struggling with finding a good lig for. I had the original JJ power Lig, a rovner versa, and rovner light. However nothing was getting me a good seal and I was constantly getting squeaks and chirps. After a lengthy amount of time adjusting (had to familiarize myself with it), it is perfect for me! Huge sound improvement, low notes pop right out, response is killer!

Definitely need to adjust this lig a little more, as I was tuning I could still slide the reed left/right/up/down pretty easily. However, once I got the mouthpiece in tune and the reed repositioned, it was easy street! You can hear it in action on my new recording of blue monk in the recordings section. I am going to get the lig adjusted a little more and provide more feedback on adjustmenting the mouthpiece once I have more of a handle on it.

Thanks for making these and very happy it got here so fast! Definitely recommend these!!!

I got mine about a week ago and have abandoned all my other ligs. It does what Antpea says it does, lets the reed speak and is great at the extremes of the horn. The point he made, to some puzzlement, about it being able to whisper is quite true, I came upon it by accident and it’s like a level below your, or at least my, quietist subtone. The lig takes a little getting used to and takes a few goes to get right, initially the setup seems difficult but once you stop worrying and go for it it’s easy enough. Once set you don’t need to do it again. Whether or not it’s true you may dispute but it certainly feels to me as if you are playing the reed unaffected by the lig. For all I know the Silversteins do the same but this is not only cheaper but much cooler. I would try one if I were you.
