The music was GREAT!!! I finally got to hear Joshua Redman live!!! The one person that was really amazing was Wayne Escoffery....I had never heard of this guy and he ripped it with the Mingus Big Band..I'm going to look for some more of his work. Technical monster. I had to leave early..it was pouring rain and after 4 hours I had had enough, and so had my daughter (7yo). But a great time indeed.

Wayne is incredible. It is really good to see his name mentioned here.

I saw the Mingus Big Band 4 years ago and was completely blown away. Top notch players and lets face it, Mingus compositions are some of the most interesting.

The Mingus Big Band is a National Treasure; seen them four or five times.
Superb compositions/arrangements and the band is always full of outstanding improvisers- and from different jazz eras, too, which makes it fascinating. Was Kenny Drew Jr. on piano? Man, that cat is BAD.
