I don't know if he ever recorded another note on bari, but I love this little Jeff Turmes solo, recorded during the 90s blues and swing revival. I think he found that bass provided a steadier income...From Rick Holmstrom's first album as leader.

Nice! Bari is great for jump. I've always loved Louis Jordan solos--including the great covers by Pete Thomas on the Joe Jackson album.
That entire First Roomful of Blues album is full of great solos. I know there are zillions, just sharing a favorite. I'll check out Pete on the Joe Jackson, thanks.

To be honest I wasn't really up to it on that album, ie I was very young and hadn't got the concept and probably a bit too much trying to play jazz. Subsequent to that album I started getting quite a lot of work relate to jump, jump blues, R & B and over the years I believe I got a lot better at those genres.

Is there one you're especially proud of? Or two?

You're too modest, Pete. That album was part of my musical education. I've listened to your solos countless times, and know them by heart. Can't play them worth beans, though.

There must be a thread dedicated to Red Prysock. I think you could study and internalize a handful of Red's solos and have a pretty good grounding on R&B saxophone.

+1. Red Prysock is one of my all time favorites and definitely one of the 'Kings' of Jump blues sax playing.

And that T-Bird's clip you posted earlier in this thread was fabulous...:)

Thank, I am more than a little touched.

Well there is one recently remastered and re-released, duet/"battle" with Lee Allen.
