I recently changed my setup to a Jumbo Java A45 which I've had in a box for a while. I played it a ton and it got all gunked up so I let it sit in some warm soapy water and then sponge washed it. Well, the black is about all gone now and it's a brown mouthpiece. Aside from being ugly, will this affect the sound? It doesn't seem to and it's probably a dumb question...

Wont affect the sound.

Rubbing it with something like olive oil might return it closer to its original colour. Basically it sounds like the water was too hot. It happens to hard rubber pieces in hot water...
