I would suggest learning it as written first (but obviously you can't play along with the recording if you're playing a tenor part on alto) because of the fingering patterns, range etc that he's using. If you want it for alto you will need to transpose it. That's going to put you into an impossible upper register so transpose it down, not up (a 4th down).
