Jonathan Rowden Group - Ruins of Numenor (nerd jazz to the max)

Any of you who get the Númenor reference have my respect :)

Please check out this new video we just released on YouTube. The song is entitled The Ruins of Númenor, and features piano, rhodes, soprano sax, drums, and bass. Funny story, I bought this soprano from my friend Bob Sheppard - it's the soprano he's played for the past 30 years! Including that great Bob Curnow Big Band-plays-Pat Metheny album.

Jonathan Rowden Group is about to record our second album - this song will be on the record! Hope you like it, and please leave comments etc. - we all love hearing from you guys.

(watch in in YOUTUBE here to help us clock views!)

Special cred to my friend Ryan Pryor who begins with a really beautiful and ominous piano solo.
Nerd Jazz for sure :) but great playing. Good sound on the sop. As for Numenor; the tune to me sounds more like it describes its glory rather than its ruins.
Listening to that was a great way to start my day. Very enjoyable.

You all have a really strong feel for dynamics; an element that seems increasingly rare in many musical genres. Excellent tone on the sop, and the keyboard player has a fluidity and a very precise touch.

As for the title, I used to be in a very nerdy prog rock band in college called Silmarillion (long before the famous lot)!

And now the most important question: will the new album be released on vinyl?
Beautiful. Always a pleasure to hear masterful musicianship. It was great to listen to, I envy you for the privilege of being part of such great sound. Thanks for sharing!

Such music surely reveals you as descendants of The Faithful! :)
Selmer Fudd - EXACTLY! haha. Thank you for the nice words! If I could've translated the credits into Quenyan I would have. Hah!
NostalgiaSmith - That band name is AWESOME. I read the Silmarillion back in high school - I was given the old 1973 pressing with Tolkien's art on the cover. Still my fav! Thanks for the kind words.

And now the most important question: will the new album be released on vinyl?[/QUOTE]

Well - we are about to start fundraising for the production, so with fingers crossed, it WILL be on vinyl and digital, and possibly some other very special packaging... We put our previous album "Becoming" on vinyl LP and it sounds great. Toes crossed!
Nerd Jazz for sure :) but great playing. Good sound on the sop. As for Numenor; the tune to me sounds more like it describes its glory rather than its ruins.
Thank you. Staring upon the ghosts of those ruins brings back spirits of ALL THE GLORY baby. ;)
