You do realise don't you that, even if you have the CD background, you still need transposed printed music as well?

...unless, of course, you can transpose the tenor music to alto at sight.

Oh, wait a minute. Maybe you're right. Many of the songs in my tenor book are written the same as the alto. The background recording has been transposed so the tenor can play the same written notes in its book as the alto in its book. Sorry, but I don't want to go through all the songs in both books, but a quick look says you're right.

The O'Neill books are organised to they teach certain finger patterns and in certain ranges of the instrument, so it would make sense that the written music remains the same. That, naturally, would mean accompaniment in different keys from the Eb and Bb instruments.
