Since I don't play soprano in 22+ years being a member of SOTW I've never started a thread in the Soprano subforum and this will probably be the only one.

Came across this video series while surfing YouTube today and figured it might be of interest to you soprano playing folks. Enjoy.

I watched this yesterday as well. Besides being nice to see something "new" from Joe Temperley, this was just chock full of "working-sax-pro" goodness. (Of course, calling these two gentlemen "working sax pros" is like calling Michelangelo a "professional painter"...)

It was interesting to me to hear the contrasts in their tone and approaches to the instrument, but what a gorgeous blend they get.

Nice! Joe sings through it just like his Baritone. I can't help but be reminded of Bechet. My favorite soprano players are bari players.

Ted Nash sounds great too. I love his sound on alto and tenor, and he finds that same darkness on soprano. That I can not find!

Yeah that's why I don't play soprano. The few times I've stuck a soprano in my pie hole I sounded like a drunken snake charmer. I do envy the small light weight cases though.
