As I've mentioned before I'm a big fan of the group Morphine.
There's a CD of Mark Sandman's music called Sandbox and on that CD is a song called Jealous Dream in which Dana Colley sets a mood with a haunting sax line that I could just listen to again and again. It's not complicated. It's the tone and the execution that does the trick.
Dana Colley is an absolute master of deceptively simple, really lyrical melodic lines. Plus he's got a gorgeous rich tone... I miss Morphine- used to go and see them loads back in the day...
