I felt like I was lacking Jazz Vocalists on my ipod.
I have an idea of a couple; Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Diana Krall, etc.
Does anybody have more people to listen to?

Cassandra Wilson. Really knows how to use her voice as an instrument. Wish I could play sax the way she sings. She is also ALIVE (many on the people's lists aren't) so it's possible to experience her artistry in person.

Anytime anyone asks for a list of great.... It generally comes out as a list that confirms a maxim that's somewhat differently quoted: "the only good artist is a dead artist". I think it's important to see, hear and support those who are great today and taking music forward. Otherwise jazz (as a musical form) becomes a "group in a loop" of a time period that everyone else leaves in the behind.
