I just moved up to Ann Arbor and can't find much online about jazz in this town. Can anyone recommend good places to hear some local talent or where there are jazz jam sessions?

Thanks!

You can start with WEMU radio - 89.1 FM or steaming at www.wemu.org
I think they may even have a Jazz/Blues calendar on the website. I listen to the stream here in Chicago!

Also, I believe member NYMeyerLansky is in Ann Arbor - he may have some tips for you (go to one of his gigs if you can - he's a great player!)

Where in Ohio were you before your move?

I was down in Cincinnati. Nothing against Cinci, but Ann Arbor is Beautiful! I am dreading the winter, though...

Thanks for the tip. I'll check them out.

A really nice jazz club is the BLUE LLAMA in Ann Arbor, highly recommended for their artists, environment and food.

If you can't find anything to your liking in Ann Arbor, most of the Detroit area is a short drive away. There might be something interesting in one of the surrounding communities.
Winter on the Southeast side of Michigan isn't that bad. The lake effect snow storms generally poop out before they get that far across the state. You'll just be really cold when it goes sub-zero. 😉
