This morning a friend of mine linked me to an article about this classical music composer prodigy named Jay Greenberg. He's composed over 100 works--and he's only 15! Last year Sony Classical released a London Symphony Orchestra recording of his Symphony No. 5. I've listened to the music that plays on his website. His music is the real deal.
Anyway, in his bio it states that he wrote a piece for tenor saxophone. Anyone know anything about it? I wonder if the great James Houlik was the inspiration for it and/or if he was the person who premiered it.
I love how nonchalant he is about music. Here's an excerpt from an interview:
Philosophy and chemistry or physics (or psychology). Not surprised by his answer. Kids like him can do anything; 'hard' is an irrelevant concept. I love this kid.

You'll be starting 12th grade this fall. Do you plan to attend college?
Probably next year. I will study music, but I probably won't major in it. I'm trying to decide between philosophy and one of the sciences - probably chemistry or physics. Or maybe psychology.
Do you see music as your career path?
Probably . . . I don't know
