Is it possible to solder on a Black Nickel?

1185 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  saxtek
I recently purchased black nickel tenor. A seller packed well, but even at the good packing and SKB case two low holder from low keygards torn away. Black nickel is very capricious plate and I fear that it will be spoilt when I will solder these holders. Who are repair black nickel saxophones ? Can I solder ? (or that - glue?!).

Or coat the existing solder on the keyguard tabs with a small amount of flux, replace them exactly where they came off from (preferrably still attached to the keyguard provided that hasn't been bent too much) and heat it with a gas torch until the solder melts.

Glue of any kind is no good as a substitute for soft solder.
