Hi

I just purchased a second hand alto sax but find that it is always slightly flat on D and G. Is this normal or is there anything i can do to fix this problem. Any help or advice will be apprecieted! thanks!

More info, please! Brand name and model of sax, approximate serial number (make X's of the last three digits for security), type of mouthpiece, and approximate condition of the horn.

With some or all of this information, we might be able to discuss some issues on various horns. To what note do you tune? I would suggest putting your F# against concert A on an electronic tuner, getting that note correct, and then see how your G (a concert Bb) and D (a concert F) stack up when the mouthpiece is in the correct place for F#.
