The palm keys on my horn are extremely sharp. The E is almost 40 cents. My horn is a Custom Ex.
any one else had or have similar problems and know a solution?
A series III neck is a pretty good fit. Fixes the intonation pretty well. Does anyone know when the G2 neck is coming out? I know a person with one because he works for yamaha.
The G2 neck is not going to be released by Yamaha. Those of us who have one typically love them. Mine is amazing. I love the G1, but the G2 really made a difference for me.
However, 40c sharp seems -really- high. What did you play before the EX? Some players who switch from Selmer horns to Yamahas play sharp in the upper register at first, since Selmers tend to be lower in that range overall.
I have a gold-plated G2 alto neck that I got from Yamaha about a year ago. From what I understood at the time there were only about 43 prototypes made. They were all slightly different, as I got to try 8 of them, and I picked the one that matched my horn the best. I brought the pitch down in the upper register and slightly up in the middle register from a-c#. Yamaha is not making any more of these necks, and they won't be in production unfortunately. They say that there are no plans to introduce a new alto neck any time soon.
