I went inside Mr. Runyon’s studio many times and each time was an experience. Heard the same stories over and over. But I always came out with some kind of new knowledge, although not always about the saxophone. He was a class act.
Also worked with this author for 5 or 6 years. Reese is a good guy; talented writer.
Funny to see this local stuff (for me anyway) here on saxontheweb.

Would love to know which model of alto Mr. Runton was playing; the article doesn't say. I'm given to understand that he had a lot to do with the Conn 28M, so I'd like to think that's what he was playing.

You can still buy his "Modern Etudes for Saxophone" (Amazon has it).

I couldn’t remember what he played. But according to Donovan, a long time student of his and who actually worked at Santy’s shop,says he played a Runyon Custom on alto.
