These changes, are the right chords to this great tune. Bergonzi records it a lot- listen to the stuff he has done and you will note how nice it sounds.

I'm going to try- to add some " needs more air time" standards here, I think it's an asset to any saxophonists game plan in jazz.

BY THE WAY...Excuse the hand written copy. It's been used on gigs/teaching for years. Pre-net. It's the content and music we're after here. Thanks- enjoy.

Tim,

Thanks for posting this. Fantastic.

When playing a tune like this, do you prefer to state the melody simply, or embellish it? I may be wrong but I think that on many of the beautiful "simple" melodies, less is more. "Everything Happens to Me" is another example that comes to mind where the melody is so good that it needs very little embellishment.

What are your thoughts?

MELODY...Simple and to the point.

Your right and also- a well placed melody is the basis of a solid improv.

Thanks, Tim. I've often wondered about the Real Book chords in the bridge. Now I know why. Any more like this will be very welcome indeed.
Few play the correct changes....and as time passes...few refer to the Miles version. GREAT TUNE...Needs to be really played more.

Thanks TP. You probably have extended the interlude to go up a 1/2 step for 8 more bars . Jerry does that on the versions I have. It is nice to blow over.
It is a great tune for sure and not easy at least for me.

Jerry does do that. There is a great model for the reality. YES!
