Michael (Pobeda) asked me to make a special recording for the B&I TOTM this month and post it as a sort of "guest". I was really happy with the results and the 1 chorus recording that came about from it. Thanks to Michael for pushing me to make another video. Next up is my quartet arrangement of Night in Tunisia for Flute, Alto, Tenor, Bass Saxophone.

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks Keith :) Got Some interesting things coming down the pipeline. Give me a little time, but I started one today after our texts yesterday and it's coming together nicely. It's an original tune. I'm gonna call it K's Ride :)

As I said in the thread, it's great! Looking forward to that Night in Tunisia work! Sounds like it'll be something truly spectacular!

Every time I hear you play, Simon, I just love it.
There are a few guys out there that I feel this way about. I just always enjoy your sound and your phrasing and your whole concept. Keep putting up videos. They are a blast to listen to.

it's me who "compromised" Simon to work on this act...
by chance I am a host :) of B&I TOTM...
so I will just copy my post from the related to the tune TOTM after Simon uploaded his vid... just that the info will get to non TOTM visitors...

"As the host of this TOTM I want to thank Simon for his reaction to my request for participation. So, we have a real wonderful rendition here.
After listening Pentup recording at last month TOTM, I was really impressed by musician like Simon. Then checked his Utube channel and found his presentation of 10Fman MPs.

Never listened such a deep demonstration of sax and saxophonist abilities. I suggest to all to spend 5 min and see this vid:

Simon, hope you will not be mad at me for posting the link ."

Michael.

I'm looking forward to the Night in Tunisia video as well. It's fairly ambitious and a completely written original arrangement so it's taken me more time that I thought :/ I promise to get it up though. Working on recording and editing this weekend as the arrangement is complete!

Thanks for listening to this one :)

Thanks Mark ... That truly means a lot to me! The fact that you dig the phrasing is one of the best compliments I can ever get :) Have a good weekend!

Haha! I am glad you are enjoying it Michael. You are the one that pushed me to do it so I must give you some credit for the inspiration :) Without you, this one wouldn't exist!

looks like it is the question without a question mark. If it's so, Simon will not be able to answer the question. As a third party I answer - absolutely YES!

I really liked that. The first thing I noticed aside from your technical skills is how darned loud you play. Many of the beginners who post here could learn a lot just listening to that piece. Note taken.

Too many notes for my old lady taste, but... Your sound and technique are outstanding. :)

Thanks:).

I really like a big aggressive sound that has a lushness to it as well. But ultimately, when you end up as a gigging musician for a living playing with louder rhythm sections and you have no mic, you have no choice but to have a sound that projects

Fabulous playing Simon. I’m really interested in your recording/video set up. Would you feel comfortable saying what you’re working with? I understand if not. Your sound is as I mentioned before at least to my ears a really beautiful blend of tradition and contemporary. Very flexible and communicates so much. Thank you for sharing. Kind regards. Alex
