Lots of great musicians in Portland always. A tenor sax player I really enjoy is Renata Caranto also Warren Rand on alto. Good luck!

There used to be Jimmy Mak's - a jazz club where my sax instructor played (about 12 years ago).

Then they closed a few years ago and possibly re-opened somewhere close by. I'd check it out, but live too far away to know the details.
