Ok, so I passed along a link to this terrific website, and many liked it. Here is yet another gem and as far as I'm concerned it really nails how to tackle improvising. Forget your book collections boys and girls. Open your ears, close your eyes (unless you're driving!) turn on your CD/mp3/record/8-track/whatever and immerse yourself in jazz. Sorry no magic potions here, just hard work. Like a teacher I had once told me: Playing jazz is 95% persistence and not being afraid to sound like crap most of the time. Beginners pay particular attention to the "Learn from a model" section. Anyway here is linky. Enjoy.
