classics of the Brazilian Choro Jacob do Bandolim by Choro Music

and The Choro fake Book Second edition (No author but produced locally, I can get you the author if you wanted a copy.) Music by Pixinguinha, Bandoilm, Zequinho Abreu, K-Ximbinho.

Very cool and good workout in sharp keys for us Bb players. K

The first book has Bb, C, and Eb parts in the one book and a play along Cd. Second book you have to specify key. Nice to not have to transpose while I play> K

These are the two books. If you email me I'll forward it to our guitarist who sent me the links to buy these.
Neff, just go to You tube and look for Jacob Do Bandolim. Its Brazilian jazz. Harmonically it sounds a little like dixieland but some goes into Bop lines and harmony. Honestly some of the heads are good to work out arpeggiating chords and running chord scales. Good "folk" music. Some of these tunes will get people singing along. Great for working your flute or clarinet double also. K

Also, my website Ksaxman.com has a choro tab with a couple of tunes I recorded. Just me and a guitar and my zoom. I play with a very good mandolyn player along with two guitars and a tambola (sp?) percussionist. Very strange to be in a room where I'm the weak link in the band. But good for me and my clarinet chops. K

Sounds interesting. I always tell people one of my funnest gigs ever was when I played with a Brazillian band for a few months. Once a week I would go down and just jam with them. The place was packed with Brazilian people who were totally into the music. I could play whatever I wanted over it. Much of it was jazz type changes and it was great to solo over. I loved that gig.
